recollections of Katoomba: Mel Ward's Museum

* a collection of stories and memories, in no particular order, from the life and times of John Clarke, who served as a policeman in the Australian Police Force, a great practical joker, he also had a great affinity with people and wildlife, was a champion swimmer, snooker player, loved golf, still loves fishing and is also an artist. I used to love to go to Mel Ward's Museum at Medlow Bath.  He was a real character with a white pointy beard and had the greatest collection of weird things, such as shrunken heads and deformed frogs in bottles.  He would take a group through and suddenly start banging on a native drum and chanting.  I used to take him specimens on my bike.
