recollections of Katoomba: yabbies and trout

* a collection of stories and memories, in no particular order, from the life and times of John Clarke, who served as a policeman in the Australian Police Force, a great practical joker, he also had a great affinity with people and wildlife, was a champion swimmer, snooker player, loved golf, still loves fishing and is also an artist. I hope you enjoy his recollections - cheers, karin (his daughter)

I recall Neil Elphick and I went yabbying one day out to the "Blue Hole" at North Katoomba, a good way out in the scrub behind the Katoomba Reservoir.  We caught some beautiful blue yabbies and then a big rainbow trout was biting on one of the baits - we couldn't et him because we had no hooks.  Next weekend we went out there again with worms and hooks and caught a heap of rainbow trout.  We often used to go out there fishing after that.  Years later I took Sally there and we caught yabbies and trout.
